Did Jesus Associate with Darkness to “Shine Light”?

Lately I’ve seen so much emphasis on the idea that Jesus “associated” or fellowshipped with darkness for the sake of shining light.

WHAT??? (2 Corinthians 6:14-18)

I’m seeing an increased mingling of the “church” with the world. Collaborations between believers and devil worshippers on tracks, people professing to know God but continuously denying Him in works (Titus 1:16).

The idea of Jesus eating with tax collectors and sinners is twisted when people try to condone fellowship with darkness in the name of “shining light” and this is why.

John the Baptist proceeded Jesus preaching a baptism of repentance. In the following verses we see who came to that baptism and actually followed #godsplan (which is repent and believe see Luke 7:29,30)

““Which of the two did his father’s will? ” “The first,” they said. Jesus said to them, “I assure you: Tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you! For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you didn’t believe him. Tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him, but you, when you saw it, didn’t even change your minds then and believe him.” Matthew 21:31-32

These verses show the tax collectors and “sinners” were the ones who had come to repent. Jesus did not sit around chilling and hoping to build relationships so He could “shine light”. He was always on mission preaching, teaching , ministering, all for the glory of God. The tax collectors and sinners were the ones listening Luke 15:1,2 and responding properly by repenting and believing. Luke 19:1-10 is a great example.

Without holiness NO ONE will see the LORD. Our love for people should drive us to confront sin in our own lives and theirs. We are not called to be friends with the world (James 4:4). We are called to testify that it’s deeds are evil. When we do this we will get the same response Jesus did, namely hatred (John 7:7).

It does not matter how many followers a person has, how well the world speaks of them, or how much money they store up, if they are not teaching you to come out and be separate from the world so that God will welcome you (2 Corinthians 6:17,18) don’t listen to them, recognize them as false.
